See Green Design at the National Solar Tour
Have you ever wanted to just talk with a homeowner who went solar? This weekend may be your chance. More than 5,000 homes, schools, and other buildings open their doors again for the National Solar Tour, held the first weekend in October in hundreds of communities across North America.
For 18 years the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) has spearheaded the open house events, giving visitors a chance to see first-hand many forms of renewable energy, including passive solar designs, solar-electric generating systems, and remodeling with green materials. Tour-goers receive background materials on solar energy and have the opportunity to talk with home owners and business owners about why and how they integrated solar designs into their buildings.
This year's tour is expected to draw as many as 165,000 visitors on October 5, but check the ASES listings for more times and dates for the tours in your neck of the woods.
